A Black and White Wedding at Biagio in Chicago

The Wedding Day

Basia and Kevin’s wedding day was punctuated by the most beautiful weather. Following the ceremony at the stunning St. Alphonsus Church in Chicago, they headed over for wedding to Lincoln Park for some of the most beautiful wedding photos. After that, they partied over to their venue to dance the night away with family and friends at Biago Events.  We were honored to be a part of this special day!

The groom ties his tie in front of a mirror, with Wrigley Field visible through the balcony windows behind him.

Firstly, the bridesmaids and groomsmen got ready in the stunning modern suites at Hotel Zachary. The hotel features great views of Wrigley Field right across the street! Dani and Elisa of Dani Lou Beauty, and Hannah and Karina of Hannah Aubrey Hair were on hand to create beautiful looks for Basia and the girls.

A flat-lay of the bride and groom's important objects for the day, including their rings, invitations, and the bride's earrings and perfume.

We were so excited to be working again with Wes and Necia of Wes Craft Photography! Their images perfectly captured the day, and beautifully compliment cinematography from Julian and Slendy of 9two5 Weddings.

St. Alphonsus Church in Lakeview was a beautiful location for the ceremony, with a soaring vaulted ceiling in the most incredible shade of cobalt blue.  Intricate details can be seen everywhere in the church, from the stained glass windows to the carved wood accents.

The bride and groom are seen kissing in the distance in a portrait taken at Caldwell Lily Pool in Lincoln Park. The reflection of the couple and the trees are seen among the lily pads in the pond.
The bride and groom crouch down for a portrait with their dog. She is small in size, with long fur that is brown on her face and body, and white on her nose, chest, and paws. She is wearing a white bandana around her neck that says 'I do too.'

Before the start of cocktail hour, the wedding party headed to Lincoln Park to take some absolutely stunning photos.  Pup-of-Honor Penelope joined her humans for a few portraits, and even had a specialty cocktail named after her at the reception.

The Reception

Afterwards, guests headed to Biago Events in Portage Park for a reception in the inviting Caroline & Michelle rooms.  The gorgeous decorations by Elisabeth Rask of Water Jar Floral Design included striking white floral arrangements on round tables and lush greenery draped down long farmhouse tables.

The bride and the groom are smiling and seated at a sweetheart table set for dinner, with a modern gold floral arch behind them featuring white roses, baby's breath, and eucalyptus leaves.

The pièce de résistance was definitely the chic backdrop behind the sweetheart table, where the bride and groom dined before mingling with their guests. The table setting included a beautiful pair of Waterford crystal champagne flutes that were gifted to the couple. Not only are the flutes gorgeous, they also made that wedding-day bubbly even more special!

A single-tiered wedding cake sits on a tall gold cake stand. It is covered with swirls of white frosting, and has a thin black topper featuring two figures riding bikes, with the words 'Mr. and Mrs. Haggerty.'

Obviously, Biagio executed a great cocktail hour! Tasty appetizers included empanadas and caprese skewers, followed by a scrumptious three-course dinner. Dessert from The Baking Institute included a cake covered in white rosettes for the lovely couple, and a delightful array of petite pastries for the guests.

The bride and groom dance closely together on the dance floor, with their friends standing around them exuberantly singing along to their first dance song.

Later on, Basia and Kevin’s friends joined them on the dance floor towards the end of their first dance to twenty one pilots’ live rendition of “Can’t Help Falling In Love.” Such a magical moment! It was a lovely way for their friends to be a part of their special day, and helped get the party started!

The bride dances in the middle of the dance floor with her arms in the air, surrounded by guests also dancing. They are facing the musician who is singing to the crowd.

After the first dance, Motown Nation kept guests on their feet until the early morning hours! Everyone danced to an energizing mix of wedding classics and 2010s throwbacks. There was even some fun Polish disco to celebrate the bride’s heritage!

Coordinating this special day was such a joy, and we wish Basia and Kevin all the best in their marriage! Cheers to the happy couple!
