In April of 2020, amidst the uncertainty of the pandemic, Alexandra and Danny reached out to plan their Spring wedding in Cathedral Hall at The University Club of Chicago. Originally set for May 2021, the couple, like many others, had to adapt their plans as the pandemic unfolded. By October, it became evident that a postponement was necessary, and we began looking into dates for 2022.
Despite the challenges, the couple remained steadfast in their vision for a memorable celebration. We helped assemble a team of wedding professionals, including the faulous Becca Kauffman Orchestra and Ann & Kam Photography, to ensure every aspect of their day would be perfect.
Crafting the Perfect Atmosphere for a University Club of Chicago Spring Wedding
Alexandra envisioned a Cathedral Hall wedding with a sophisticated color palette of black, white, green, and gold. We started with the stationery design as this was a priority for our bride. With the help of Allison Banks Designs, a custom wedding crest with monogram was created. The design incorporated meaningful details like a rosette from Sacre Coeur in Paris, where Danny proposed. This crest became a central theme throughout their wedding, adorning everything from stationery to welcome box items.
A Warm Welcome
The wedding weekend began with a warm welcome for guests, who were greeted at their hotels with custom welcome boxes. These thoughtfully curated boxes included personalized touches like a green ribbon with the couple’s monogram, favorite snacks, custom labeled water bottles, embroidered baseball hats, and a weekend agenda.
A rehearsal dinner was held at The Women’s Athletic Club of Chicago, followed by a lively welcome party for all guests.
Let the Celebration Begin
On the big day, Alexandra stunned in an A-line wedding dress featuring soft Alencon lace, a V-neck, long sleeves, and a chapel train, custom designed by Sareh Nouri.
After getting ready at The University Club of Chicago, Alexandra and Danny, accompanied by their loved ones, proceeded to the iconic Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago to seal their union in a beautiful ceremony that was officated by a friend of the family.
Wedding Dinner and Dance in Cathedal Hall
Every aspect of the wedding was meticulously planned to mirror the couple’s classic style and personality. From the opulent table settings adorned with exquisite gold trim sourced from Tablescapes and Marquee Event Rentals, to the meticulously embroidered hemstitch napkins with their wedding monogram, each detail was thoughtfully curated to elevate their University Club of Chicago wedding experience.
Derrick Taylor from Taylor & Co Floral Design was entrusted with bringing Alexandra’s floral vision of Cathedral Hall to life. He incorporated hundreds of lisianthus and green Bells of Ireland as a nod to the groom’s Irish heritage, creating stunning arrangements that adorned the venue.
